Ribbon Skirt Workshop at West

Ribbon Skirt Workshop at West In-person

In honor of Women’s History Month and MMIP (Missing and Murdered Indigenous Peoples), the Labriola Center, in partnership with ASU’s Makerspace and Research on Violent Victimization Lab, is hosting a ribbon skirt workshop. For this workshop, participants will leave the session with a completed or near completed ribbon skirt using heat bond/adhesive for the ribbons and sewing machines.

Join us as Baylee LaCompte (Hunkpapa/Sicangu Lakota), one of our Labriola’s student staff, facilitates the workshop and shares her knowledge about the importance of ribbon skirts. Baylee is a talented Lakota artist and has been designing ribbon skirts since 2019.

Registration is limited due to the number of sewing machines available, so register ASAP.

We look forward to seeing you at this workshop!
